Overview:
The e-Learning Course in Cultural Diplomacy in the USA offers a curriculum exploring the role of the United States on the global stage and the importance of Cultural Diplomacy in promoting and maintaining amicable relations with other nations. In an increasingly globalized world, the future role of the US is under question, and this e-Learning Course will explore and analyze the ways in which this traditional “superpower” will have to adapt if it is to remain competitive in light of the increasing economic and political power of the four BRIC countries: Brazil, Russia, China, and India. As these countries grow in economic strength, it is imperative that the United States promote fruitful international relations so as to establish a positive framework in which to negotiate and cooperate with developing economic powers. Cultural Diplomacy will be a key tool in establishing this framework, providing a peaceful and enriching vehicle for the creation of a mutual understanding. The key objective of the program is thus to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the potential international issues facing the USA, and the manner in which Cultural Diplomacy can be used in order to prevent disagreements and promote cooperation and harmony at a time when the position of the United States as the dominant global power is under greater threat than ever before.
Students will have access to the innovative research and publications in the field and a distinguished and renowned faculty with wide-ranging experience in international diplomacy, academia, and all public and private international sectors. In addition to obtaining an expertise in Cultural Diplomacy, students will be uniquely situated to create and implement their own programs of Cultural Diplomacy with the support of the ICD and the ICD partners.
Program Curriculum & Structure:
The courses have been designed in a flexible way to allow students to structure their instruction around their own schedules. Students will be required to do weekly readings and view lectures via the website; however, students can pace themselves according to their preferences. A final paper will be required, upon which the course grade will be based.
The program includes the following components:
Video lectures which students can watch at their convenience
Reading material relevant to the course’s different modules;
Online mentoring and assessments;
Final Paper to be completed within 90 days from the end of the course
The courses will be delivered via the e-learning platform module, a pedagogical tool designed to help participants meet the course's learning objectives through a self-paced study routine supported by multimedia, required and optional readings and a wealth of other information. Adapted specifically to full-time professionals, participants will learn by absorbing (reading), doing (exercises) and reflecting (relating to personal experiences).
Certificate/Accreditation - All students will be awarded an official certificate accredited by the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy’s academic board upon completion of the program. Each certificate will be signed by members of the ICD Academy and Advisory Boards, which include high-level politicians, leading academics and renowned experts, all of whom are responsible for assuring the academic quality of each of the courses as well as the individual intellectual experience of each student. For those students who implement specific projects of cultural diplomacy or write exceptional final papers for their e-learning course it is possible for the student to request letters of recommendation from the ICD to assist in their career development.
